I am soooo making a print and hanging this in the house! |
Based on last week's PM update, framing would have started on Wednesday or Thursday. Because we couldn't get out to site during the week, we were looking forward to this Friday's weekly update and this was waiting for us on the machine:
Garble, garble, garble, garble, permits, garble, garble, garble...
Blasted technology. The only word I understood was "permits" and the only reason we knew it was from the PM was from callerID. The connection was that bad. Based on our visit on Saturday, our lumber had arrived but there must have been a permit issue because framing had not started yet and the receipts in the dirt showed that we had two separate concrete trucks on Friday (11.5 yards total) versus earlier in the week. Obviously, framing will be on the agenda for this coming week but we're waiting for an e-mail update on Monday to figure out what happened.
All was not lost though. The delay allowed me to snap some lumber and 'pristine' basement pictures I otherwise would have missed...

We found our walls a few houses down the street. There were a few cracked and broken ones but most were in good condition.

I like the punch of orange on this one. |

They were a little overzealous with the backfilling (over the tar line)
but that should be addressed when they complete the grading.

The grade at the rear of the house concerns me a little -- based on the tar line, the water will run toward the morning room. Currently, the earth looks pretty level so perhaps they caught that too.

I hope to have an update tomorrow evening.
That first photo is awesome. I was seeing garble, garble, garble so much that I read "garage" on one of your pictures as garble!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. At least you were consistent--I keep thinking "gobble, gobble, gobble"! ;)
DeleteHi AnJ, the photo shot at the top is just AMAZING! I love the water art too! What type of camera are you using?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have to admit that it wasn't straight out of the camera and I did a little photo tweaking. All of these were taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V, which is (being/now?) discontinued. It's a wonderful little compact camera!
